In winter , our journey began…. We decided to fly to other countries ,to meet other people and leave our nest's safety in order to search for parteners and view together an unbelievable trip that happens for thousands years so far,the emigration, emigrants and we , "aliens και foreigners".
So we follow the opposite way, bound for the north and in Romania have our first meeting. We found companions during our journey towads our destination; an e-place. On the way, we came across more companions who invited us to fly with them to the west, to Italy; and from there together… a big company of strangers before, fellow travellers now…
We had leaders, which means, guides, and lieutenants and we also appointed fellow guides, technical counselors, poets… How are we supposed to go? Which way? Are we going to have a rest on any ship passing by? And what about the ones that cannot continue? When will arrive? Which actually is our destination? Will the journey be worth it? Are we going to see beautiful places? And how could you know what each one of us was expecting to see? Yet, the beauty of the sea can never get lost!! …and we passed over seas, and we rested on ships and carried on our wings the weaker travellers and, on the way, there were other companions who encouraged us and filled us with power .But there were also the older ones standing by our side advising us: “We must go on, we must go on, we cannot give up now”, “We can” they would say “we can find the harbour we are looking for… All we need is to try a little more. Together we will discover the deepest mysteries of our hearts” We learnt how to walk down new, unknown paths … Still… nothing was accidental… Nothing occured just that simply... Ithaca
When you set out on your journey to Ithaca, pray that the road is long, full of adventure, full of knowledge. The Lestrygonians and the Cyclops, the angry Poseidon -- do not fear them: You will never find such as these on your path, if your thoughts remain lofty, if a fine emotion touches your spirit and your body. The Lestrygonians and the Cyclops, the fierce Poseidon you will never encounter, if you do not carry them within your soul, if your soul does not set them up before you.
Pray that the road is long. That the summer mornings are many, when, with such pleasure, with such joy you will enter ports seen for the first time; stop at Phoenician markets, and purchase fine merchandise, mother-of-pearl and coral, amber and ebony, and sensual perfumes of all kinds, as many sensual perfumes as you can; visit many Egyptian cities, to learn and learn from scholars.
Always keep Ithaca in your mind. To arrive there is your ultimate goal. But do not hurry the voyage at all. It is better to let it last for many years; and to anchor at the island when you are old, rich with all you have gained on the way, not expecting that Ithaca will offer you riches.
Ithaca has given you the beautiful voyage. Without her you would have never set out on the road. She has nothing more to give you.
And if you find her poor, Ithaca has not deceived you. Wise as you have become, with so much experience, you must already have understood what Ithacas mean.By K.Kavafis
